Stroke Rehabilitation

Comprehensive recovery program for post-stroke patients. We help improve mobility, speech, coordination, swallowing, and self-care skills through a personalized rehabilitation plan.

Stroke Rehabilitation at "Modrychi" Rehabilitation Center

A stroke can significantly affect mobility, speech, memory, coordination, swallowing, and a person’s ability to perform everyday activities. After a stroke, patients often require not only medical care but also a structured rehabilitation program that helps restore lost functions and adapt to new physical and cognitive challenges.

At the Modrychi Rehabilitation Center, stroke rehabilitation is based on an individualized treatment plan. Our multidisciplinary team assesses each patient’s condition, identifies the key impairments, and develops a recovery program tailored to the patient’s needs, abilities, and rehabilitation goals.

When Is Stroke Rehabilitation Needed

Rehabilitation may be necessary after either an ischemic or a hemorrhagic stroke if the patient experiences difficulties with movement, speech, swallowing, balance, or self-care.

The most common reasons patients seek rehabilitation include:

  • weakness in an arm or leg;
  • walking difficulties;
  • speech impairments.

Why Early Rehabilitation Matters

The sooner a patient receives properly tailored rehabilitation, the greater the potential for gradual recovery. At the same time, therapy must be safe and adapted to the individual’s current condition and capabilities.

How the Recovery Program Works

Rehabilitation begins with a comprehensive initial assessment. Specialists review the patient’s medical records, symptoms, level of mobility, speech, swallowing function, coordination, and ability to perform daily self-care activities.

Based on this assessment, an individualized rehabilitation plan is developed. Depending on the patient’s needs, the program may include physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech and language therapy, balance exercises, gait training, and psychological support.

What the Program May Include

  • physical therapy;
  • gait training;
  • coordination and balance exercises;
  • occupational therapy;

Core Areas of Rehabilitation.

After a stroke, patients often need to work on several functions at the same time. That is why rehabilitation programs typically combine different types of therapy and training.

Restoring Mobility

A physical therapist helps patients safely change body positions, sit, stand, improve balance, strengthen muscles, and gradually regain walking abilities.

Speech and Swallowing Rehabilitation

A speech and language therapist works with speech impairments, unclear pronunciation, difficulties understanding language, and swallowing disorders. This support is essential for effective communication, safe eating, and improving the patient’s overall quality of life.

Regaining Daily Living Skills

Occupational therapy helps patients relearn everyday activities such as dressing, eating, using household items, personal care, and gradually becoming more independent in daily life.

Rehabilitation Formats

The rehabilitation format is selected individually for each patient. For some, the best option is inpatient rehabilitation with accommodation at the center, regular therapy sessions, and continuous medical supervision. For others, an outpatient program may be more suitable, allowing patients to attend scheduled therapy sessions while continuing to live at home.

Frequently Asked Questions and Answers

We answer the most common questions about consultations, accommodation options, and the rehabilitation process at the Modrychi Rehabilitation Center.

How Long Does a Rehabilitation Program Last?

The duration of the rehabilitation program depends on the diagnosis, the patient’s condition, existing impairments, and recovery goals. Following an initial consultation and functional assessment, our team of specialists develops an individualized rehabilitation plan and determines the recommended length of treatment.

For stroke patients, an inpatient rehabilitation program typically lasts 14–21 days. In an outpatient setting, the program may include 15–30 therapy sessions over a period of 1–2 months. If necessary, physicians may recommend additional rehabilitation courses with intervals between them, during which patients continue prescribed exercises at home under the guidance of rehabilitation specialists.

The duration of the program may be adjusted throughout the rehabilitation process based on the patient’s progress and overall well-being.
